A modern girl

By Sing-Sing, ‘Sing-Sing And I’ album, 2005.

I'm just a modern girl,
Trying to get along in a modern world
I'm just a modern girl,
Trying to work it out in a modern world

I know, you know we're held in high esteem
But baby, you'll see that things aren't what they seem

And I've been lying on my side
But lately on my own
'cause everything I touch is made of stone

You know, I know technology's so sweet
But baby, maybe it’s us you owe a treat

And when we find we have a choice
There's nothing to select
Too much cause and not enough effect

And then the walls come trembling down
I cling to my ideals
And though I'm not as tall as you
I soar in my high-heels

E.Anderson

Just had a chance to get alone with the lyrics, and simply found out that I am so in love with the idea presented in the song. “We are all modern girls who are all trying to get along in a modern world…”, but then, are we leading our lives as they should be? We might all get along by running chasing after something unreal to our lives, or something unreal to our minds. We might even de-value the things with real importance to us! Technology can be sweet, money can be sweey, when we are all in this modern world cherishing capitalism and consumerism. But then, are thing go the way they seem?

PS. Love the little touch they add to the song.
“And though I'm not as tall as you, I soar in my high-heels”
